Ministry Encouragement Podcast – Episode 005

Rev. Jim W. Hollis, Author

The Main Theme for today: Encouragement Through Fishing in Deeper Waters With Christ.

Topics and Highlights of this Podcast 005 are:

Sharing FIVE major, Spiritual Principles involving our Fishing In Deeper Waters With Jesus:

Spiritual Principle #1: How DEEP we RISK ourselves spiritually is often decreased OR increased by the spiritual maturity and depth of the Leaders we are seeking to emulate

Spiritual Principle #2: The potential quantity and quality of the catch is more profound in deeper water

Spiritual Principle #3: Effective catching in deeper waters with Christ requires greater trust through our faith, knowledge and experience

Spiritual Principle #4: To become an experienced guide in deeper waters, our passion for the greater catch must consistently exceed our respect of the risks involved

Spiritual Principle #5: Experiencing the profound adventures of deep-water catches will alter our previous satisfaction level with limiting our fishing to shallow waters

Identifying FIVE Specific Spiritual Action Areas we are invited to INVEST our lives in which can truly move us into Fishing In Deeper Waters With Christ:

1)  Increased Prayer Life and Ministry

2)  Passionate Presence that cherishes and learns from experience

3)  Practicing the JOY of Giving to God

4)  Living the Ministry Adventure of my Calling rather than dying the death brought on by doing Church Work prescribed by another.

5)  To spiritually grow and practice reaching others and/or encouraging others for Christ daily through my personal Christian witness.

Next, our major encouragement Scripture for Today’s Podcast #5, is: Luke 5:1-11 / I’ll be referring to the NIV 2010 and The Message versions of this text in the New Testament.

How will we Live This Out in the coming days to see ourselves move into Deeper Waters to Catch Fish With Jesus Christ?  I will list and discuss SEVEN Major Truths on how this can happen in our lives:

1)  When Jesus steps into OUR boat, everything will change.  He’s in our boat now, calling us by name to go into the Deep.

2)  While many of us first start noticing or seeing Jesus from a distance, as the fishermen did, it is hard for us to imagine that he truly wants to connect with us personally – changing our lives forever.

3)  When we first decide to get involved in the community of faith with Jesus, we may be encouraged by others to take a FUNCTIONAL role, like Simon did when he was simply steering the boat to help Jesus stay preaching to the crowds.  It all changed when Jesus looked directly into his eyes, personally.

4)  As we enter into a personal relationship with Jesus, we will begin to see profound miracles take place in our lives.  We will first feel like running away.  Then we get in touch with our own unworthiness and sin.  We can choose to confess our sin and brokenness.  We can change direction and stop moving away from God and toward God in a right, new relationship based on forgiveness.

5)  Jesus instantly reaches out to us, wraps his arms around us, places his healing hands on us, and says, “Don’t be afraid.  Don’t be afraid.”

6)  Last, but certainly not least of all, he then gives us a new vision for our life and CALLS US to the JOY of serving in ministry with others.  He has a commission for each of us, a Divine Plan for the fullness of life.

7)  It’s up to us at this point, God always honors FREE CHOICE.  We can day YES or NO.   There is no pressure, condemnation or pushing – the choice is OURS.  We are free to choose.
