Ministry Encouragement Podcast – Episode #065 –  Rev. Jim W. Hollis, Your Host

Sponsored by: Proactive Ministries (www.proactive-ministries.org)  GA (USA): (770) 803-9988

Hello to you and welcome to the Ministry Encouragement Podcast for our sixty-fifth episode.  I am delighted and blessed that you have taken your time to join me today.  Today I will have an interview with the Rev. Carolyn Moore, Senior Pastor of Mosaic United Methodist Church in Evans, GA – a suburb of Augusta, GA, home of the Master’s Golf Tournament.  I know most of you are familiar with that event.

Today I’m going to be discussing a topic that is portrayed by major media as “normal for everyone” and “something that everyone participates in” as part of living.  While millions of people do choose to drink alcohol as part of their life, it is not an inevitable or certain choice for any person.

To choose not drink alcohol as part of one’s life is an excellent option to be carefully considered, particularly for those who have a history of alcohol abuse in their family, among their friends or are in a percentage of the population which medically identifies them as having great probability that alcohol abuse would likely be part their future.  (Read the research on Children of Alcoholics, and Adult Children of Alcoholics – many volumes and internet information are easily accessible.)  The medical community across North America has shown through research that if we have someone in our family who has alcohol addiction issues that we are four times more likely to be ravaged by addiction ourselves.

So our focus today is on both Alcohol Addiction & Roads to Recovery:

Living an Alcohol Free Life Is An Excellent Option to Choose

and

Jesus Christ is the Author of Healing and Recovery

The abuse of alcohol in the United States today is an epidemic, which is robbing millions of individuals and families of their peace, joy and future as life unfolded.  The stats are amazing on this in thousands of studies done in the medical, educational, psychological and theological communities over the past 50 or more years.  Don’t take just my word for it, just search on Google or Bing and get informed of the epidemic personally. Do the research.  Form your own conclusions.

The point of view this episode advocates is: To say “Yes!” to a life free from alcohol is both possible and an excellent option for millions of lives today in the United States – especially our children, youth and young adults who have not yet engaged with alcohol.  I feel this option is grossly under-represented in our nation today.  We are dulled by the billions spent on making us accept less than the truth.

Today, we are very blessed to have with me the Rev. Carolyn Moore, pastor of the Mosaic United Methodist Church in North Georgia. Carolyn is passionate about seeing folks with all kinds of hurts, habits and hang-ups find healing through Christ.  She has worked with Celebrate Recovery and is a supporter of other 12-step programs.  Most recently, she participated with a panel of speakers in presenting a Christian response to addiction and recovery at a recovery conference at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky.

God bless you for your reply on this incredibly important ministry for us all, Daniel. In our ministry of Proactive Ministries, we are building a Team to begin seriously “bridging new relationships” between local churches that host Twelve Step Groups and those in the Groups. As you know, there is a great void in connecting in authentic friendships in most churches. We want to work to create a “third place” for persons to initiate and establish caring, lasting, friendships.
