Ministry Encouragement Podcast – Episode #068 – 10-16-13
Your Host: Rev. Jim Hollis Our Ministry Sponsor: Proactive Ministries (proactive-ministries.org)
Hello! Welcome to another Episode of The Ministry Encouragement Podcast. This is our sixty-eighth episode and I am delighted that you have taken time out of your busy schedule to join me in this way. God is creating a wonderful Christian Community around this podcast and I always love to hear from each of you who takes a minute to write your thoughts to share with me on how we can improve the podcast or how it has blessed your life.
Today our major topic of sharing and discussion is:
God’s Forgiveness – Receiving and Giving It
We will be taking a close look at this incredibly relevant and universally related topic which everyone of us lives with each day! I will be focusing on The Ministry of Reconciliation as it relates to God’s forgiveness and God’s unconditional love – Divine Love. I open up today with two important Scriptures:
Romans 5:10-11, New Revised Standard Version –
10 For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life. 11 But more than that, we even boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
II Corinthians 5:18-19, New Revised Standard Version –
18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us.
When we were at our WORST, Christ intervened and forgave each of us. And we have been granted not only forgiveness but have been given the Ministry of Reconciliation from God.
I discuss in this Episode, three major reasons to intervene in a conflict.
Another major Scripture passage for us today is:
Matthew 6:12-15, New Revised Standard Version
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And do not bring us to the time of trial,
but rescue us from the evil one.
14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; 15 but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
The reality of our own forgiveness is directly related to our own willingness to forgive others.
We are never called by God to hold and feed one’s anger. Anger does not work the righteousness of God. I talk about 5 major reasons why we are encouraged to NOT hold onto and feed personal anger.
It is my prayer that we will all know the reality of RECEIVING God’s forgiveness and have God transform us into being people of Grace and Love.
Let’s go and live this out each day!!!
